Is Your Plumbing Ready For No-Shave November?

No-Shave November is a month when you can let your facial hair grow as long as you want for a good cause; raising awareness and money for men's health issues. However, come December, you'll want to shape up your beard and mustache or shave it all off and start over. Here are a few tips to get your plumbing ready and to keep your drains free of clogs.

Cover the Drains

An easy way to keep hair from the drains is to put a trash bag in the sink. All of the hair that you shave off will land on the bag instead of going down the drain. Simply gather the sides of the bag when you're done and toss it.

Use a Bowl

A bowl is an option to consider when it's time to shave after No-Shave November. You can put warm water in the bowl and have all of your shaving supplies on a table along with a mirror so that you can see. For heavier beards, you might need to dump the water outside and fill the bowl again to finish shaving.

Clean the Drains

If your hair isn't too long, then you can usually run hot water through the drains after shaving. This keeps the hair flowing through so that it doesn't stick to the pipes. A mixture of white vinegar, water, and baking soda can also be used to prevent clogs.
